Dosage & Administration:
- GERD & Erosive Esophagitis: 20 mg to 40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks.
- Peptic Ulcers (including NSAID-induced ulcers): 20 mg to 40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks.
- H. pylori Eradication (as part of triple therapy): 20 mg twice daily with antibiotics for 7–14 days.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: 40 mg twice daily or as prescribed.
- Route of Administration: Oral.
- Food Intake: Best taken 1 hour before meals for maximum efficacy.
Precautions & Warnings:
- Prolonged use may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency.
- May increase the risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
- Caution in patients with osteoporosis due to potential fracture risk with long-term use.
- Not recommended for use in severe hepatic impairment without medical supervision.
- Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound acid hypersecretion.
