Description
Indications:
- Prevention and treatment of excessive bleeding during or after surgery
- Management of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
- Treatment of hereditary angioedema and bleeding disorders
- Control of bleeding in dental procedures for patients with hemophilia
Mechanism of Action:
Tranexamic Acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that works by reversibly blocking lysine binding sites on plasminogen molecules. This prevents the breakdown of fibrin clots by plasmin, thereby promoting clot stability and reducing bleeding.

Precautions & Warnings:
- Not recommended in patients with active thromboembolic disease
- Caution in patients with kidney impairment – dosage adjustments may be needed
- Avoid use during hematuria of renal origin
- Use under medical supervision in pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Monitor for visual disturbances or allergic reactions
Side Effects:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Less common: Dizziness, headache
- Rare: Vision changes, allergic rash, thrombosis
- Seek medical attention if severe side effects or allergic reactions occur.
