Description
Indications:
- Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body)
- Tinea cruris (jock itch)
- Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
- Cutaneous candidiasis
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- Intertrigo and other fungal dermatoses
Mechanism of Action:
Sertaconazole, an imidazole derivative, inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption compromises membrane integrity, leading to leakage of intracellular contents and ultimately fungal cell death. Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects, providing symptomatic relief.

Dosage & Administration:

Precautions & Warnings:

- Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and mucous membranes
- Discontinue if signs of hypersensitivity or allergic reaction occur
- Not recommended for use in infants unless prescribed
- Complete the full course even if symptoms improve early
Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated. Occasionally reported adverse effects include:
- Mild burning or stinging at the application site
- Local irritation or redness
- Allergic contact dermatitis (rare)
