Description

Indications:

✅ Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) infections (Cold sores, Genital herpes)
✅ Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) infections (Shingles, Chickenpox)
✅ Prevention of herpes outbreaks in immunosuppressed patients
✅ Cytomegalovirus (CMV) prevention in transplant patients (off-label)

Dosage & Administration:

  • Chickenpox: 20 mg/kg (max 800 mg) 4 times daily for 5 days

Precautions & Warnings:

• Renal impairment: Dose adjustment required in kidney disease.
  • Hydration: Patients should drink plenty of fluids to prevent kidney toxicity.
  • Pregnancy & Lactation: Generally safe but consult a doctor.
  • Dizziness & Fatigue: Avoid driving if affected.
