Amorolfine Cream 0.25% w/w

Amorolfine Cream 0.25% w/w is a broad-spectrum topical antifungal preparation designed for effective treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin. Amorolfine, a morpholine derivative, exhibits both fungistatic and fungicidal properties by disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of the fungal cell membrane. This cream is ideal for managing a wide range of dermatophyte and yeast infections with a convenient application schedule.

Description

Indications:

  • Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
  • Tinea corporis (ringworm)
  • Tinea cruris (jock itch)
  • Cutaneous candidiasis
  • Pityriasis versicolor
  • Adjunctive treatment in onychomycosis (nail fungal infections)

Mechanism of Action:

Amorolfine works by inhibiting two enzymes—delta-14-reductase and delta-7–8-isomerase—involved in ergosterol synthesis. This disruption leads to structural and functional impairment of fungal cell membranes, effectively killing or halting the growth of fungi.

Key Benefits:

  • Broad-spectrum antifungal action
  • Rapid relief from fungal symptoms such as itching, redness, and scaling
  • Suitable for both dermatophyte and yeast infections
  • Non-greasy, fast-absorbing formulation
  • Low risk of systemic absorption, making it safe for prolonged topical use

Dosage & Administration:

Apply a thin layer of the cream once or twice daily to the affected area after cleaning and drying the skin. Massage gently until fully absorbed. Duration of treatment typically ranges from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the severity and type of infection.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For external use only
  • Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes
  • Not to be applied on broken, inflamed, or oozing skin
  • Use with caution in pregnant or lactating women; only under medical advice
  • Discontinue use if allergic reactions or severe irritation occur

Side Effects:

Amorolfine Cream is generally well tolerated. Rare side effects may include:

  • Mild local irritation
  • Redness or dryness at the application site
  • Burning or itching sensation
These effects are usually transient and resolve upon discontinuation.

Storage:

Store at or below 25°C in a dry place. Keep the tube tightly closed and protected from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
